An upper low, cut off from the main flow over the central United States has been the major weather maker for the week so far. This has allowed disturbances to rotate around the bottom of the low to scoot across Acadiana the past few days allowing for occasional showers and thunderstorms. Today should be the last day for widespread rain chances before things calm down toward the weekend.
Expect some sunshine this morning, with clouds developing during the day. Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible again from late morning through late afternoon. Temperatures will run in the mid to upper 80s with heat index values near 90 degrees. Winds will be from the south. It stays muggy tonight as storms fizzle. Lows in the upper 60s.
Friday, we'll see a mix of sun and clouds. An isolated afternoon shower or storm is possible, but not likely. Highs in the upper 80s. Saturday and Sunday should see mostly sunny skies. Rain chances will be 10% or less for the weekend. Summer like temperatures are expected, with highs near 90 degree. Generally hot and dry weather is expected early next week with afternoon temperatures in the low 90s.
Tropical weather will remain quiet for the next few days. Hurricane season officially starts Monday.
