A volunteer group from the Kansas City area is already on the way to help in the recovery.
Operation BBQ Relief has helped people after nearly every major weather event since 2011.
The group has helped feed more than 8 million people after natural disasters around the world.
"Our philosophy around this is very simple," said Stan Hays, CEO, Operation BBQ. "Anybody who comes up if we're serving meals is going to get a meal. We're not going to make a judgement whether that person needs a meal or not. We'll serve ten of those people that didn't need a meal just so we can make sure we get that one person who did need a meal that day."
Operation BBQ Relief hopes to start sending crews down tomorrow.
"The people that I meet are probably some of the most resilient people because I can't do what they have gone through to be so upbeat," said Hays. "But I know when they get that sandwich, that meal, and they want to thank somebody because they realize people care about them, that they're loved."
The plan is to begin offering meals by Sunday.
