High storm surge expected along the coast

Wind is picking up and water is starting to rise along the waterways of south Louisiana.

Residents who live along bayous and coulees are getting nervous about all of the water from the Gulf of Mexico that will filter in through their backyard.

With a storm surge of up to 12 ft. expected, thousands of residents, especially in Erath and Delcambre and preparing for the worst.

One woman who is staying home to ride out the storm said she won't be surprised if she gets completely surrounded by water and gets stranded at home.
