Calcasieu Parish media briefing on Hurricane Laura

LAKE CHARLES, La. - During the last press briefing until after the storm, Calcasieu Parish officials asked residents to evacuate while they still have time.

The storm surge has been predicted to be three feet higher than expected.

There are some residents sill in Cameron Parish who have not left that parish officials are pleading for them to leave. All of Cameron is in peril of high storm surge, the Calcasieu Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness director said.

Mayor Nick Hunter says 600 to 800 residents through out the parish and Lake Charles were bused out to Burton Coliseum.
