At 1:00pm Monday Tropical Storm Zeta with 70 mph was expected become a hurricane later today and impact the Yucatan Peninsula overnight.

A hurricane watch for portions of the Louisiana Coast will likely be hoisted later today.

Zeta remains on track to make landfall late Wednesday across Southeast Louisiana impacting areas such as Grand Isle and then on to New Orleans into Wednesday night.

The storm is expected to be weakening as it approaches land but is still expected be a hurricane at landfall...making this the 3rd hurricane to strike the Louisiana Coast in the last two months including hurricanes Laura and Delta.

At this time, the heaviest rains, highest winds and storm surge will be near and east of the center of this storm, with Acadiana only receiving a glancing blow.

Nonetheless, tropical showers and storms will advance toward Acadiana Tuesday with rain chances and breezy winds expected into Wednesday.
