Sunshine Sticking Around

Getting Hot Next Week
Posted
and last updated

High pressure will remain in control for the next few days, bringing sunshine and warmer temperatures. The ridge has been centered over Acadiana during the early morning hours of Friday, and will slide just to the east of us during the day today. The high will anchor itself over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico through the weekend, providing us with a southerly flow and a steady increase in humidity over the weekend. Temperatures will climb into the lower 80s today.

Lows overnight won't be as cool, dropping into the lower 60s. Sunny skies are expected again Saturday and Sunday with highs climbing into the mid to upper 80s. Lows this weekend will remain in the mid 60s.

A trough digging across the west will promote more of a southwesterly flow aloft toward the end of the weekend. Any rains are likely to remain to the north, and chances for rain early in the week are slim. The big story will be the temperatures as highs will approach 90 degrees with heat index values near 95 by Monday and Tuesday!
