The unsettled weather pattern will continue today. After widespread showers and thunderstorms Thursday, Friday appears to be pretty wet as well. We've already seen showers and storms developing along the coast. Some of this activity is leftover from Thursday. Rains will gradually spread over Acadiana during the day and some heavy downpours are possible. Like Thursday, these storms will be slow movers, so if you're under one, you'll probably see a good inch or two of rainfall in a short period. Highs today will reach the mid 80s.
Rains should taper off this evening with clouds hanging on. Overnight temperatures will drop to near 70 degrees. Look for mostly cloudy skies on Saturday. Showers and thunderstorms are still expected during the afternoon hours, but the coverage won't be as widespread. Highs will reach the mid 80s.
On Sunday, widespread rains and storms will return to the area. Rain chances back in the 60% range. Highs in the mid 80s. Drier air returns early next week.
Tropical weather is still a possibility over the western Atlantic. The National Hurricane Center now putting an 80% chance for development of a system near The Bahamas. No threat to Acadiana.
