Another very warm day is expected as highs will reach the mid to upper 80s. No records fell Thursday in Lafayette, Alexandria, nor Lake Charles. But New Iberia broke their 85 degree record, with a high of 86. Record for Lafayette today is 87 and the record for New Iberia is 85. New Iberia will have the best chance for meeting or breaking a record again today. High pressure aloft and at the surface will continue to keep us with above normal temperatures. Skies will start cloudy, then become sunny during the mid morning hours. Breezes will be kicking up a bit too. Expect winds in the 15-20 mph range
Overnight, skies will again become cloudy. Lows will drop to near 70 degrees. Saturday will start cloudy, with peeks of sunshine through early afternoon. Then clouds will return as a front approaches the area from the west. Highs will reach the mid 80s. A stray shower is possible, but not too likely. Most of the bigger rains will remain north of the area. A thin line of showers is expected to slide through the area with the passage of the front overnight. A few showers will linger early Sunday morning.
By mid morning Sunday, we should see some sunshine again with highs near 80 degrees. Clouds and showers will return late Monday with thunderstorms likely Monday night into Tuesday. Temperatures will return to normal for most of next week with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s.
