Showers and storms moving through Wednesday afternoon

Tropical moisture that's been left over across the area from the surge on Tuesday will be responsible for clouds and widely scattered showers through the day.

Storms will start to fire up along the coast through the late morning and continue into early parts of the afternoon before winding down in the evening.

Frequent lightning and heavy downpours will be the issues to deal with during Wednesday's round of showers but they should all stay below severe criteria.

While clouds will keep temperatures in the upper 80s the heat index is still going to be sitting in the upper 90s courtesy of the thick atmosphere across south Louisiana.

Those who have evening plans to kick start any festivities should be encouraged by the fact that showers will slow down during the evening and come to a complete end overnight.

The 4th of July forecast will be a scorcher but otherwise there's not going to be any issues to worry about for holiday planning.
