Summer heat is here, and it’s not going anywhere

It’s no longer accurate to say summer is around the corner, because like it or not, summer has already arrived in south Louisiana.

Mostly sunny skies will give way to a high that pushes into the upper 80s, but a muggy atmosphere will give way to a heat index in the mid 90s.

Bringing all that moisture into the area will be a strong wind from the south which will be sustained around 15-20 mph.

As the winds increase Tuesday afternoon a Wind Advisory will go up for Acadiana, and those strong winds will push the seas up along the coast.

This could lead to some coastal flooding right along the water way, and may even push water up onto Highway 82 in Cameron Parish.

We won’t get much change in the forecast this week as the summer ridge sets up through the rest of May so this week will be hot and humid.
