Clouds Increasing

Rain & Storms For the Weekend
Posted
and last updated

After a string of beautiful days, we'll be in transition mode today with clouds increasing toward the afternoon. You'll also notice that humidity levels will be increasing as a front approaches the area. This front will bring a chance for a few showers this afternoon, mainly over the northwestern sections of Acadiana. Temperatures aren't as chilly for the early part of the day and afternoon temperatures should reach 80 degrees.

Overnight, clouds will hang on, temperatures will drop into the mid 60s. Saturday skies will remain mostly cloudy. Scattered showers will be in and around the area as a cold front stalls out along the coast. Highs should reach the lower 80s before winds shift to the north. By Saturday night, that front will be retreating northward as a warm front as another low pressure area develops over Texas.

This will allow warm, moist and unstable air to return. By Sunday, that front will rapidly move through the area. Thunderstorms are likely and some could be severe. This won't be the event like we saw last weekend, but be weather aware especially into Sunday afternoon. The storms prediction center puts much of Acadiana in the "Enhanced" risk.

Early next week looks nice with sunshine and warm temperatures for Monday and Tuesday.
