The short term forecast for Acadiana looks great as it will be another beautiful day on Thursday with a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the lower 80s.

Another great day with highs in the lower 80s

The only difference is winds will be quite breezy Thursday afternoon out of the south at 15-25 mph.

Turning breezy across Acadiana Thursday afternoon

Friday clouds will start to thicken over Acadiana along with the slight chance for a few showers as the remnants of a weak cold front will try to swing down into central Louisiana.

The main weather story continues to be Saturday when we are forecasting a strong low to move out of south Texas and head for the ArkLATex region.

In advance of this low a warm front will lift out of the Gulf Friday night into early Saturday morning which could produce the first round of scattered showers and a few thunderstorms.

Scattered showers and a few storms possible early Saturday morning

Then we could get a brief break in the rain before the nasty weather arrives during the afternoon and evening.

The storms look to reach the Texas-Louisiana border between 3-5PM before reaching central Acadiana about 5-9PM and then slide into the eastern portions of Acadiana around 7-11PM.

Strong to severe storms likely Saturday afternoon/evening

Although this system is still 4 days out the Storm Prediction Center has upgraded the northern half of Louisiana to an Enhanced risk (30%) for damaging winds and isolated tornadoes while all of Acadiana is under a slight risk (15%) for gusty winds up to 60 mph and a few spin-up tornadoes.

Slight risk for severe weather Saturday afternoon/evening for Acadiana

Like the past couple weather makers heavy rains also looks to be a possibility with this system as these storms could produce rounds of heavy downpours adding up to 2-3 inches of rain with isolated spots maybe getting more meaning we will have to watch out for the potential of flash flooding as well.

Saturday storm system could also bring heavy rains to Acadiana

The storm system should lift out of the area late Saturday night and it looks like we will have a beautiful Sunday with mostly sunny skies and cooler temperatures in the upper 60s to near 70.

After a cool start to the work week with lows in the mid to upper 40s on Monday we should have a nice couple days with sunshine and seasonal temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s during the afternoon.

Another weather maker arrives next Wednesday producing scattered showers and storms.

Another system brings the chance for more showers and storms next Wednesday

Again one or two storms could be on the strong to possibility severe side.

Good news is it looks like we clear out Thursday and Friday with comfortable temperatures in the upper 70s.
