Acadiana can expect seasonably cool conditions along with some high clouds through Tuesday, before a storm system, taking shape in Southern California  Monday makes a run for our area by Wednesday.

In the near term, expected generally fair skies with some high clouds across the region, but skies could be most clear toward Southwest Louisiana into Southeast Texas where areas of dense fog could form by morning.

Temperatures by morning will range in the low to mid 40s…a few degrees cooler than last night/this morning.

FutuerCast Temperatures:

Acadiana will see more of a sun and high cloud mix Tuesday with the high clouds winning out by day’s end.

Temperatures will again top out in the seasonable mid-60s Tuesday.

Wednesday, a weak area of low pressure will advance into Southwest Louisiana bringing scattered showers and a few embedded thunderstorms, just about any time of the day, from morning at least through mid-afternoon.

Overall we are not expecting any issues floodwise or severe weather wise.

Rainfall totals per most of our computer models looks to be a half an inch range or less, although there will likely be a few spots closer to 1 to 1.5 inches.

Latest FutureCast Forecasts including Rain Totals:

Behind Wednesday’s system, a strong digging jet stream behind the low will intensify the system once it is well northeast of the area Thursday, but this will allow for another “wrap-around” cloudy, breezy and cool day Thursday, along with the chance of scattered showers accompanied by more misty drizzles in between.

Skies will clear for Friday with sunny skies likely into Saturday.

It appears the coldest mornings over the next week will be Friday and Saturday mornings where temperatures Friday morning will be in the lower 40s with a wind chill, and Saturday morning readings could be close to the “frost zone”, in the mid-upper 30s.

The weekend and the weather pattern through Christmas is looking a milder than normal for now with daytime highs pushing the upper 60s to lower 70s.

Rain chances look to stay low, in the 10-20% range, Sunday through Tuesday.

It appears that wetter conditions will return to the area the Wednesday, or more likely now, the Thursday after Christmas.
