Cleanup efforts continue in Ville Platte, weeks after Hurricane Barry. As the storm moved through, it brought flooding to the city.
Now, work is underway to prevent future flooding. City crews are cleaning storm drains and other drainage canals.
"Being with the last tornado and flood waters it's just been so much, so basically we had to pump it up a little bit and try to get it better," Don White with public works said.
He added, "If we don't get these areas cleared and we get heavy rain, it could be pretty bad for the residents of Ville Platte."
The city has been cleaning up since last week and will continue until all areas are cleaned.
