Alleged Abuse:  Labeled “a known pedophile” in diocese documents that became part of a lawsuit against their insurance company.  No evidence of any lawsuits or criminal charges. Named by the Diocese of Lafayette in 2019 as a priest against whom a credible accusation has been made regarding sexual abuse of a minor or vulnerable adult.

Where is he now:  Deceased since 1985

The Rev. Thomas Doyle created a document that was included in the insurance lawsuit; he had worked closely on the Lafayette cases. Doyle identified Begnaud as “a known pedophile.”

In a 1995 deposition, Bishop Frey said he heard a rumor about Stanley Begnaud, who had died years prior, but that the rumor “had no substance.”

We could find no lawsuit, nor any criminal cases involving Begnaud.
