Paul Metrejean
Alleged Abuse: Lawsuit settled in 1989 involving an adult while Metrejean was working in Crowley. No criminal charges filed.
Where is he now: Retired
Monsignor Paul Metrejean was accused of molesting a young college student in a 1989 lawsuit. In the suit, the alleged victim said he called Metrejean in 1985 because he had a nervous breakdown at college, and viewed Metrejean as his spiritual adviser, since he had attended Landry Memorial High School in Lake Charles. The victim alleged that Metrejean molested him during a visit he made to the priest’s home to talk about his troubles. He also alleged that Metrejean sent him pornography.
In a 1995 deposition, Monsignor Larroque testified that Metrejean was on leave in the early 1970s, but his personnel file didn’t include a reason why. There was one complaint against Metrejean, Larroque testified, mentioning the victim who sued in the 1980s. Bishop Frey also testified in 1995 about an incident involving Metrejean, but provided no details.
