Trick or treat? This terrifying clown is a little bit of both — mostly because he comes bearing doughnuts. Doughnuts? Yes, doughnuts.
Thanks to a doughnut chain called Hurts Donut Co., some folks have incorporated something spooky into an extra sweet delivery during the month of October, offering the perfect way to scare friends but, you know, still do something nice for them.
Hurts Donut has a running tradition of employing creepy clowns to make donut deliveries throughout October, which means that mischievous friends can schedule a delivery with this guy — who looks terrifyingly like Pennywise from “IT” — all month long. There’s no official word on whether the tradition will resume this year, but it was alive and well in 2020, so there’s a good chance this clown will be back to terrorize people while offering them doughnuts this Halloween season, too.
And just in case you needed proof that this is just as horrifying as you’d imagine, check out this video posted to the Facebook page for the Tempe, Arizona, location that shows the scary clown delivering doughnuts to some unsuspecting recipients:
Hurts Donut Company has 19 different locations in nine states, including Oklahoma, Colorado, Texas, Missouri, Arizona and Wisconsin. You can see if there’s a location near you on their website. Then, call the store for more information about how to schedule this clown delivery just in time for Halloween.
If you don’t happen to live in one of these areas, you don’t have to miss out on delivering some Halloween fun to your loved ones. Harry & David also offers a box full of Halloween treats you can have delivered to yourself or to a friend. It’s filled with festive shortbread cookies, chocolate-covered grahams, yogurt-covered pretzels and Moose Munch caramel popcorn. Pricing starts at $24.99.
If you happen to be in the mood for making Halloween doughnuts from scratch, however, you could also do that. Then you can dress up in a creepy costume to deliver these homemade sweets by hand or pass them out to trick-or-treaters.
The Simple Sweet Life has a recipe for chocolatey monster doughnuts that are frightfully delicious. Whip these up when you’re in the mood to scare a sweet tooth!
And if you don’t have time to make up a batch of doughnuts from scratch, A Spicy Perspective has a great tutorial for buying a dozen plain donuts and decorating them to be extra-spooky. Store-bought icing, sprinkles, googly eyes and vampire fangs are all you need to deck out a doughnut to fit a Halloween theme.
So whether clown deliveries, homemade recipes or adding fun decorations is more your thing — there’s a way for you to make sure Halloween is just the right mixture of spooky and sweet.
