The Backstreet Boys Just Kicked Off Their New U.S. Tour: “We’re Gonna Blow America Away”

The Backstreet Boys are back, alright! And they’re touring the U.S. playing songs from their past and their new, well-reviewed album, “DNA.”

The boy band that topped the charts in the ’90s and ’00s started off their “DNA” tour in Europe, but launched their North America leg of the tour on July 12 in Washington, D.C.

“I think we’re gonna blow America away,” Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough told ABC Radio. “The set design is unlike anything I’ve ever seen, the set list is really good. I think we really accomplish taking our fans [on] a true trip down memory lane with all the oldies but goodies, and we’ve been able to properly sprinkle in some of the songs from the ‘DNA’ album.”

The boys had a blast on the first night of the tour if you go by their Instagram post about it.

“DC! What a start to the North American leg of our #DNAWorldTour, we are speechless! #BSBDC” was the caption at @backstreetboys from the tour launch at Capital One Arena in D.C.

Next, they moved on to Ottawa on July 14, performing at the Ottawa Bluesfest. They have an extensive North America tour ahead.

As you can see, they’ve already been posting regularly from different tour stops, like this update from their July 15 Montreal show:

They loved Toronto as well, which they played on July 17, according to their social media. “Last night was something else … Toronto, you are incredible!” the post reads.

But don’t worry, the group members — now in their 30s and 40s — know how to integrate their work and family lives. In an all-band appearance on “Good Morning America” early in 2019, the group talked about how they plan to bring their families along for the tour as much as possible.

“When they’re not in school, when they’re not in their sports and stuff, they come out as much as possible,” member Kevin Richardson told GMA.

And these boys are primed to play, since they had a long warm-up of sorts for this tour. The band did a residency in Las Vegas with their “Backstreet Boys: Larger Than Life” show from 2017-2019, playing their hits of the past.

Their new song “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” received a 2018 “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” Grammy nomination. Also, “DNA,” the group’s 10th studio album, is selling well, thanks in part to the purchase of bundles that include copies of “DNA” with tickets to the summer tour. So it seems that the boys are not only back, but ready for another round of success.

The band has more than 50 shows to go in the U.S., Canada and Asia. They end the tour on November 6 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

However, they just announced that they’re adding a couple of dates to their tour so they can play the iHeartRadio Music Festival. That takes them back to Las Vegas on Sept. 20-21, to perform in a lineup that includes Alicia Keys, Cage the Elephant, Camila Cabello,  Chance the Rapper, Def Leppard, Miley Cyrus, Marshmello, Tim McGraw, and more. Sounds like a great time!

Will you be seeing them larger than life in concert?
