LAFAYETTE — It's one thing to strive for perfection.
It's entirely different to expect it. But that's what No. 8 UL Softball is focused on in non-conference.
The Cajuns schedule will be daunting, with series scheduled against ranked opponents like LSU, Texas, Florida and Ole Miss.
While those games may determine the Cajuns seeding in May when it comes to hosting a regional or super regional for the postseason, it's the other games that Louisiana can't afford to drop.
"If we lose this year, we want to lose to one of those 14 big games," Head Coach Gerry Glasco said. "In those other 42 games, we need to go clean. That's hard to do, almost impossible to do. It would nice to be 7-0 when we play LSU."
No matter the opponent, the Ragin' Cajuns are excited for the next month ahead.
"I really like this schedule. Being from a smaller school and transferring here," Cajuns senior catcher Julie Rawls said. "I'm really excited to play those big schools. And getting to show them who we are. We know we're one of the top teams. We have some of the best talent I've ever seen."
The Cajuns open the season with their 34th annual Louisiana Classics tournament. UL will host their first game Friday at 4 p.m., when they take on Ball State.
