The Cajuns are just nine days away from their first game of the season and unfortunately, the injuries keep racking up. That list of growing injuries includes wide receiver Brian Smith who’s out with a broken hip.
As the Cajuns work on filling the gaps on offense they will also be making some changes on defense.
Head Coach Billy Napier says safety Brandon Bishop will be sitting after breaking his Tibia, a bone in his lower leg. Bishop appeared in 11 games in 2019, primarily on special teams.
Louisiana has lost a handful of players to season-ending injuries already but Napier remains optimistic when it comes to depth.
“I think that creates an opportunity for a group of guys, like Patrick Mensah. Bobby Holmes, Tyree Skipper, Blair Brooks. I think some of these young corners like Trey Amos, Caleb Anderson.”
