Cajuns upset No. 23 Iowa State 31-14

It's Louisiana's first road win over a Top 25 team in program history and the 2nd ranked victory ever.

The Cajuns got a big boost from their special teams unit. Running Back Chris Smith had a 95 yard kick return touchdown in the 1st half and cornerback Eric Garror's 83 yard punt return TD put Louisiana up by two scores in the 2nd half.

Louisiana trailed 14-10 at halftime, but QB Levi Lewis connected with Catholic of New Iberia product Peter Leblanc on a 78 yard touchdown pass to make it 17-14. Garror's punt return made it 24-14 and then the icing on the cake was RB Trey Ragas' 2 yard score at the end of the 4th.

UL's defense was lights out too, shutting out ISU in the 2nd half. Cyclones QB Brock Purdy was held to only 16-35 for 145 yards and an interception.

Louisiana starts the season 1-0. Next up, the Cajuns travel to Atlanta to face Georgia State. Kickoff is set for 11 AM next Saturday.
