Louisiana men's basketball is adding Portland transfer Theo Akwuba.
The 6-foot-11-inch center once blocked 22 shots in a high school game. He's started 26 career games and recorded two double-doubles during conference play this season.
He'll have two year's of eligibility left when he arrives in Lafayette.
"Theo is a high character young man who spent two season in the West Coast Conference competing against some great teams like Gonzaga, Saint Mary’s, and BYU,” head coach Bob Marlin said in a release. “His ability to alter shots, rebound, and finish around the rim will increase our team’s presence in the paint."
Akwuba has 64 career blocked shots in two seasons. His 46 blocks as as freshman is seventh in Portland Pilots history.
“His upside is high. He averaged a triple double as a senior in high school and was the leading shot blocker in the state of Alabama for two seasons. His motor is great for a guy his size," Marlin added.
