Another tough test awaits Cajuns in Monroe Saturday

LAFAYETTE (KATC) – The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns men’s basketball team wraps up a three-game road trip when it travels to north Louisiana to face ULM in a Sun Belt Conference game on Saturday at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m., CT. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Graham Doty (pxp) and Mike Vining (color) on the call. Fans can listen to the game in the Lafayette area on KHXT-FM (107.9) and worldwide on RaginCajuns.com with Jay Walker (PxP) and Ross Cook (color) providing the commentary.

Louisiana (11-6, 2-2 SBC) returns to action after splitting a pair of games last weekend in Georgia. The Ragin’ Cajuns capped off the weekend with an 87-85 victory over Georgia Southern with JaKeenan Gant scoring 22 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and blocking five shots.

Gant, one of four players in Division I currently averaging 30 points per game in conference play, is fifth overall in the SBC in scoring (19.8) and third in the league in rebounds (8.2), second in field goal percentage (.545), fourth in free throw percentage (.824) and first in blocks (3.0).

Marcus Stroman (12.1) and Justin Miller (10.4) are next in scoring for the Ragin’ Cajuns with Stroman leading the league in assists (6.4) and tied for the league-lead in steals (2.5).

ULM (9-7, 2-2 SBC) dropped both of its games in Georgia by a combined two points with games decided on buzzer beaters. Wichita State grad transfer Daishon Smith is second in the SBC in scoring (20.8) with sophomore guard Michael Ertel averaging 15.0 points per contest.
