LAFAYETTE (KATC) —  Former St. Thomas More stars Avery and Brennan Breaux are both back in the hometown of Lafayette, continuing successful college careers a Louisiana.

Avery, now a sophomore on the volleyball team, led the Cajuns in assists this season. Vermilion and white has always run through her blood, but it wasn’t always so for her older broth Brennan. Brennan began his career at LSU, but when he decided to leave Baton Rouge, Avery had a suggestion.

“She was putting a bug in my ear too,” said Avery, who will compete for a starting role on the Cajuns 2019 roster. “I thought it’d be cool if we could both be at the same place at the same time.”

The two have taken advantage of sharing a campus. When one plays, you’ll probably find the other behind home plate, or up in the bleacher cheering the other on.

“There have been times where we’re in the middle of the game and something happens, I look up and see my brother in the stands and he’s there telling me one play at a time,” said Avery. “Just the support system of having him here has been awesome.”

“Regardless of what happens. Our story as a family. This is what we did,” Brennan added. “This is what we accomplished. We were both able to be apart of great programs, at the same time, at the same school. You don’t hear that a lot.”

Brennan and Avery are currently the only sibling pairing currently competing at Louisiana University.
