The New Orleans Saints clinched a playoff berth today, with their second victory over the Atlanta Falcons in the past three games.
The Saints beat the Falcons, 21-16.
Today's game was the first in which the the Saints could clinch a playoff berth, but needed Chicago to lose.
With less than two minutes remaining in the Saints game, New Orleans was leading by five points and had the ball. At the same time, in Detroit, the Lions were leading the Bears by 4 points with 10 seconds remaining in their game. That game ended with a Chicago loss, with a minute left in the New Orleans game.
Atlanta used its last time out with more than a minute left in the game. With five seconds on the clock, Atlanta had the ball but was unable to score.
The Saints already have defeated the Falcons, with a 24-9 win back on November 22.
