LSU star WR Ja'Marr Chase has decided to opt-out of the 2020 season, according to CBS Sports and multiple reports.
Chase will now focus on preparing for the 2021 NFL Draft. A formal announcement is expected Monday.
ESPN has Chase listed as the No. 4 overall prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The junior had a standout year for the Tigers in 2019, as his 1,780 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns broke SEC single-season records. Chase was the Biletnikoff Award winner, which goes to the best wide receiver in the nation. He was also a unanimous first-team All-American.
Chase was a big factor in the National Title game vs. Clemson. The New Orleans native finishing with 9 receptions for 221 yards and 2 TDs in the championship victory.
Chase becomes the 3rd player from LSU to opt-out this offseason, joining defensive lineman Neil Farrell Jr. and defensive back Kary Vincent Jr. Chase also becomes the 25th player from the 2019 title team that is not returning.
