BATON ROUGE (KATC) – As of Tuesday evening LSU is a 2.5-point betting underdog Saturday on the road against Texas A&M.

LSU, a 9-2 team ranked 7th in the country is an underdog against a 4-loss Aggies team that has never beat LSU since joining the SEC. Interesting.

The odds makers don’t always get it right, and LSU has made a season out of proving that. Against the spread, the odds makers have picked right just three times in LSU’s 11 games, the Tigers wins against Ole Miss and Mississippi State, and loss to Alabama. LSU outright is 3-1 as a betting underdog.

Should Tigers fans rejoice? Maybe. But A&M packs the second best run defense in college football averaging just 80.8 yards per-game. Joe Burrow may have to lead the charge if the Tigers plan to win at Kyle Field where only Clemson and Texas A&M have won games this year.

“I don’t know nothing about favored or not favored. I’m glad that they’re favored. We do well as underdogs,” said LSU head coach Ed Orgeron Monday. “I hope that puts a chip on our team’s shoulder. I won’t mention it, I guess they will. Us being a Top-10 team we got to play like it. And that has nothing to do with the game, I think this is a rivalry game, you can throw out all the rankings, you can throw out all the point spreads.”
