SCOTT — There are three games that truly haunt Acadiana's seniors: A 31-24 loss to Zachary in 2016, a 43-42 overtime loss to Hahnville in 2017 and a 26-14 home loss to Zachary in 2018. Those are how the last three seasons ended for the Rams.
"They taught me that you can't always win," said Monette. "This year, my senior season we have to win. We have to win this year."
Monette and teammate Jeremiah "Lucky" Brooks will play for Army in 2020. But first, a state championship is what they chase. Monette enters the season 700 yards shy of the school record and while going out with the rushing record would be great, it's the state title the Rams truly desire.
"He's been working hard. We expect him to have a big year," said second year head coach Matt McCoullough. "He's been playing for us for four years and he understands the whole system. He's worked hard and is bigger and faster than ever before. We expect big things out of him."
