ST. MARTINVILLE — St. Martinville offensive guard Michael Pete may not be at the center of any highlights, but he was the glue to maybe the most exciting offense in Acadiana in 2018.
The Tigers averaged over 41 points per game on the way to reaching the 4A quarterfinals. Former Super 16 running back Travien Benjamin led the area with over 2200 yards on the ground and 43 touchdowns. Leading the way most times was a very aggressive Pete.
"He plays with a sense of meanness," SMSH Head Coach Vincent Derouen said. "He's a hard working kid. Hard nosed kid. Definitely plays with a chip on his shoulder. He's mean with football. We like that with the offensive lineman."
As a result of his stellar play, Pete was named to the 4A All-State 1st team.
