WELSH — Welsh is currently in the midst of it's best run of football.
The Greyhounds were 2A state champions in 2017, then made it back to the dome last year.
John Richardson was the architect of the program, leading Welsh for the last six seasons before leaving for Westlake high school.
it's now the Cody Gueringer era at Welsh. He's been the offensive coordinator with the Greyhounds for the last 5 years.
In 2018, Welsh averaged over 37 points per game on the way to their runners up finish.
Now Gueringer inherits 12 starters returning, a wealth of experience in leadership and the tools to tweak the program to his style.
"Of course I'm going to go ahead and use what I've learned with Coach Richardson and continue his success," Gueringer said. "There's little things I'll emphasize, whether it's really emphasizing on being on time. Maybe playing both sides of the football. Just little things. We're not going to capitalize on things we can't capitalize on."
