IOTA — Iota football lost just one game in 2018, but that one game continues to leave a bad taste in the Bulldogs' mouths.

"I think about that game every day," said senior running back Luke Doucet. "It's a team sport and you can't point fingers. If I wouldn't have fumbled on the first play we probably would have scored and it would have changed the game, you know?"

Iota carried a perfect 13-0 record into the 3A state semifinals against Sterlington. On that rainy night at home the Bulldogs' offense never found it's gas pedal in a 21-12 loss.

"We've got a little 13 and a big 1 in our locker room," said head coach Josh Andrus. "They understand it's not necessarily about having one loss, it's when it comes. We want to finish the season with a win."

In 2019 Iota is returning it's star running back all-state selection Luke Doucet. Iota is replacing four-year starting quarterback Trae Rambin with sophomore Dawson Wallace, The team also is replacing three starting offensive linemen, but Andrus actually thinks that unit could be better in 2019.

Defensively Iota has the most work. While the unit brings back it's starting line, it replaces just about everyone else. Still, expect the Bulldogs to be a favorite in a new-look district 5-3A. Defending 3A champions Eunice moved up to 4A, while Crowley moved to district 6.

2018 Record: 13-1
District: 3-5A
Head Coach: Josh Andrus
Returning Starters: 6 on offense, 5 on defense
Other Notes: Returns all-state running back Luke Doucet
