Breaux Bridge Tigers
2019 Record: 10-3
Head Coach: Chad Pourciau
Notes: Have a 20+ year postseason streak
Few area teams have as steep a hill climb back to the top as Breaux Bridge. After a 10-win season and quarterfinal appearance the Tigers return just a half dozen starters.
Breaux Bridge will have to replace seven of their nine first team all-district members, including defensive MVP Tyrese Martin and offensive MVP Gavan Courville.
"You know got to step up and lead the younger guys into doing what Breaux Bridge has done the past few years and the winning traditions they have," said senior lineman Gabe LeBlanc.
"We're young, but anything can happen," said senior wide receiver Kyser Patt. "If they take the coaching and the seniors take them under their wing we could have a lot of success."
Patt is the team's only returning skilled position starter. New quarterback Tanner Reed is a Teurlings transfer. He joined Breaux Bridge early last season.
"We lost a really good one in Gavan Courville," said head coach Chad Pourcia. "That's some big shoes to fill and I don't expect him to do it right away. Play within himself. Be the best he can be and we'll live with the results."
Courville broke the school record, passing for more than 2,000 yards last year.
