BASILE — The Basile Bearcats have a new quarterback ready to take the field and lead his team to another successful season.
"It's pretty good, I'm excited about the year. I've been waiting for this for two years, and I'm ready to show people what I got," said junior quarterback Cole Manuel.
The Bearcats made a lot on noise with All-State linebacker, Andre Reed who contributed to the team making back to back appearances at the quarterfinals. The team's season came to an end with a 10-3 record, after being knocked off in the playoffs by Kentwood.
Coach Kevin Bertrand says they have the experience and the speed, allowing them to use more of the field this year.
"There's always a chance of improvement, said Coach Bertrand. "I talk to the players about that all the time. I'm going to find something that we can improve on every week. We have to improve on something. We can definitely be better, but we have to work at it."
Bertrand says he has eight veterans on offense, six on defense who he's confident can get the job done.
