The New Iberia Yellowjackets are glad to be putting their rebuilding season behind them, looking forward to showing off what their new offense can do.
"We really got better as the season went on, and I think we're way ahead of the game right now from where we were a year ago from an experience standpoint and knowing what to do," said Head Coach Curt Ware.
This time last year, the Yellowjackets head coach Curt Ware stepped into his new role throwing Nish's spread offense out and implementing a wing-t triple option. The team's 2-8 overall record may seem like the team didn't adjust to the coaching style however, the players couldn't disagree more, hopeful to end their six-year playoff drought.
"It would truly mean a lot to us. Not just the team but the school and the organization around us. That's our number one goal. Just the type of level of confidence that we have it's just boosting," said senior running back Tyce Fusilier.
Ending on a high note, the veteran Yellowjackets are optimistic about the upcoming season.
"It was a good season. It was unfortunate, but it was a good season. We could see the progress we started scoring more. So, overall as the season went on, we got better as a team. That would be something big our senior year to make it to the playoffs," said senior running back Markel Linzer.
Tyce Fusilier was named 1st team all-district running back rushing over 1,000 yards last season.
