Coach: Vincent DeRouen

2019 Record: 5-6 (Lost in 1st Round)

District: 6-3A

Notes: Co-Champs of District 6-3A in 2019

Coming off a 10-0 regular season in 2018 and moving down to 3A in 2019, many expected St. Martinville to be instant contenders last year.

But that wasn't fair to the Tigers with the amount of star power they lost from that team. Despite a slow start, the Tigers still found a way to become Co-Champs of District 6-3A, with Erath and Kaplan.

"I believe that learning from the games before the district championship, and everything coming up to it, that we should be better prepared this year," senior offensive lineman Dashon Vitto said. "We know what we expect in 3A and we should be able to take the district championship for ourselves."

St. Martinville now enters 2020 with a wealth of experience with 13 starters returning. That includes Super 16 safety Xavier Kately leading a defensive unit with 7 starters coming back. On offense, QB Tanner Harrison is among 6 returning, as he is finally becoming comfortable under center.

For the Tigers, finishing with a winning record and a repeat district title is important. But St. Martinville believes they have a chance win it all.

"The expectations are really really high," Tigers Head Coach Vincent DeRouen said. "We not just speaking district championship this year. We thinking about winning. Getting back to the level of St. Martinville where it should be and what the people expect. What the staff and what the kids expect. So we're definitely shooting for the stars."

"We're shooting for the state championship, really. Shooting for the ring," Tigers senior safety Xavier Kately said. "Coach Vince, he always talking about being humble. But to be honest, I'm not putting in work everyday to lose in the 3rd round, 4th round. We're shooting for the state championship."
