Rayne Wolves

Coach: Kaine Guidry (2nd year)

Record: 6-5

District: 4-4A

Notes:

There was a bunch of unknowns entering the 2019 season for Rayne football.

For one, it was year one of the Kaine Guidry era with the Wolves. For two, Rayne was moving into a brand new District 4-4A, with the 3A state champs in Eunice and a few unfamiliar foes.

The result in year one, a 6-5 record and a district title.

"I told them from year one through my time at Rayne, it's going to be a process," Guidry said. "If they can trust that process and not get ahead of themselves, we can be successful."

The motto for Guidry and the Wolves is "trust the process," as he's hoping to build on the foundation that's been laid in 2019. The Wolves are in good position to grow, only losing 10 seniors off that team. They bring back a ton of experience, with 8 starters returning on offense and 11 total.

Among that number, senior quarterback Colin Lacombe. It's his 3rd year under center, and the Wolves are hoping his growth can lead to an offensive explosion in 2020.

"(I'm) Just slowing the game down even more," Lacombe said. "Just comprehending defenses and pick them apart and find the open man."

"He makes smart decisions," Rayne senior WR/CB Durrell Weathersby added. "He knows what to do and (he) drives us out of bad positions."
