3. Vermilion Catholic vs. Lafayette Christian – Friday, 12:00 p.m.
District rivals Vermilion Catholic and Lafayette Christian meet for the second time this season. LCA has won consecutive titles and is seeking a third-straight. Head coach Errol Rogers said after the Knights’ 69-33 semifinal win that this year’s team was better than the past two, because they’re more team oriented than player. The Knights beat VC by 32-points in the regular season finale. Eagles’ coach Kim Guidry said she believed her girls were overwhelmed by the atmosphere inside LCA’s athletic complex and looked forward to a neutral site game.
CLASS 1A
4. Delhi vs. 3 Elton – Friday, 6:00 p.m.
For the first time since 1975, Elton high school girls basketball will play for a state championship. The Indians have won 20-straight games dating back to a December 7th loss at DeRidder. Their opponent Delhi is the defending 1A champion. The Bears beat top seeded East Iberville 59-37 to advance to the final.
