NSD: Area athletes commit on first day of early football signing period

Wednesday marked the first day in the NCAA early singing period for football, a window that will stay open through Friday.

Across Acadiana a handful of area athletes committed to play football next season. Learn about each athlete below, and hear their signing day interviews at the bottom of the page.

Christian Archangel (Comeaux) – Louisiana Tech Bulldogs – DB
The Comeaux defensive back is a KATC Super-16 athlete who shined for the Spartan this season. Archangel chose LA Tech over Rice and Southeastern among others. He is a 3-star prospect according to 247 Sports, ranked 63rd overall in Louisiana.

Quintlan Cobb (Kaplan) – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns – DL
The 300 lbs athlete figures to play on the defensive line for the Louisiana. Cobb played defensive line, tight end, and running back this year for the Pirates. The KATC Super-16 athlete chose Louisiana over Baylor and Tulane. Cobb is the highest rated Cajuns commit according to 247 Sports.

Jax Harrington (Erath) – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns – OL
Harrington, a 6’4″, 300 lbs offensive linemen fielded late calls from Baylor and Kansas, but ultimately stayed home committing to the Cajuns. Harrington projects as a offensive tackle, and is ranked the 69th best product in Louisiana according to 247 Sports.

Peter LeBlanc (Catholic N.I.) – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns – WR
The 6’2″ wide-receiver from Catholic New Iberia found a way to shine in a run-dominant offense. LeBlanc scored 17 touchdowns for the Panthers this season. His grandfather Tim LeBlanc Sr. played for USL.

Thomas Perry (Teulrings) – LSU Tigers – OL
Thomas Perry will follow in his dad’s footstep and play for the Tiger in 2019. Perry’s father Adam was also a linemen for the Tigers in the 90s. The 6’5″ 325 lbs linemen is ranked as the 35th best offensive tackle in the country, and 17th best product in Louisiana. He is also a KATC Super-16 alum.

Ja’Braylon Spencer (New Iberia) – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns – OLB
Ja’Braylon Spencer figures to be, officially, a post-signing day addition to Louisiana football, although Spencer did sign his Nation Letter of Intent Wednesday. The outside linebacker is listed at 6’0″ tall and 200 lbs. Spencer is a 247 Sports 3-Star prospect.
