Grand Coteau, LA (KATC) — This fall Berchmans Academy football won it’s second straight state 8-man football championship, beating southwest Louisiana HomeSchool 54-12.
Eight-man football differs from 11-man in the way it sounds. Each team only plays with 8 players on the field. It creates more space, bigger plays and higher scores.
The Saints have been led by senior running back Cameron Muller. Muller spent his high school career taking advantage 8-man football’s space. Over the last two seasons he’s accumulated more than 2,700 all-purpose yards and more than 300 points.
October’s championship, however, was his last football game. Muller has no interest in playing football moving forward. He’ll attend LSU and study Kinesiology.
“Football has always been for fun,” Muller said. “It seems like if I play at the next level it would be less fun.”
