EUNICE (KATC) – Eunice’s opponent in the 3A championship has already done something the Bobcats couldn’t, beat Church Point and Iota.

The Bobcats only losses came to those district rivals, two teams Sterlington beat this postseason. Sterlington went on the road beating Iota in the semifinals, and Church Point in the second round.

“I think it’s going to be the best team we’ve faced,” said Eunice head coach Paul Trosclair. “They’re good on both sides and offensively they’re not one-dimensional, they can throw the ball and run the option too. A lot of problems and they’re bigger than we are. So we have another challenge on our hands big time..”

Sterlington didn’t exactly run away with either win against those district 5-3A teams, beating Church Point by one in overtime, and beating Iota 21-12.

Sterlington last won a title in 2016 and has been to the dome three times since 2000. Eunice will be making their first trip the the championship since 1998. Eunice’s only state title came in 1982.
