LAFAYETTE (KATC) — Ted Davidson Field at Bill Dotson Stadium is the new name for the home of the Acadiana Wreckin’ Rams.
Wednesday the Lafayette Parish School Board signed a proclamation naming the school’s football field after the former AHS head football coach.
Davidson coached football for more than 40 years, most of that came at Acadiana. He joined Bill Dotson’s staff in 1981 and eventually became head coach in 2004. As a head coach he won more than 150 games and four state championships.
Davidson was honored to have his name alongside the man who taught him so much.
“It’s a tremendous honor,” he said Wednesday. “It’s unique in that the Stadium itself is name after my mentor, Bill Dotson, a guy I worked for for 22 years. It’s quite an honor to have the field named for me in his stadium.”
