Vermilion Catholic Screaming Eagles
2017 Record: 10-4
How it Happened: Under first year head coach Brady Thomas, Vermilion Catholic march it’s way to the state semifinals meeting LCA. There the Knight avenged an early season loss keeping the Eagles a win shy of the Super Dome.
Some way, somehow, Vermilion Catholic has dodged the pains of three coaches in three years and 2018 marks four in four. Kevin Fouquier finally takes over the Eagles. The longtime assistant has watched a number of coaches walk in the door and out. Fouquier’s coaching pedigree is deep. He has stops with the Cajuns, Texas A&M, and Louisiana Tech among others. He says VC is the only high school he wants to coach at and will hold the expectations of the Eagles high in 2018.
Starting quarterback JT Lege graduated ushering in a new quarterbacking era led by younger brother Drew. Drew made several starts for Vermilion Catholic last season while JT managed a knee injury and is expected to keep the Eagles’ high-flying offense going.
