Carencro Bears
2017 Record: 3-7
How it Happened: Bears players point to a lack of team leadership that led to inconsistent play on both sides of the ball in 2017. Carencro will have a new look offense this season with former offensive coordinator Kevin Faulk making the move to become the director of player development for LSU football. Faulk’s departure opened the door for new offensive coordinator Gavin Peters to come over from Acadiana High School.
Expect the Bears to run more of a read option style offense under Peters who will look to develop senior quarterback Austen Breaux in the formation. Second year Carencro head coach Tony Courville says the team’s strength will be its overall speed. It certainly won’t be it’s size. Carencro won’t feature a single defensive lineman over 200lbs this year.
But in the Bears backfield is length as well. The team’s shortest defensive back is 5’11 with a pair of 6-foot corners and a 6’3” safety.
