Southside Sharks
2017 Record: 6-2
How it Happened: In the program’s inaugural year, Southside turned some heads recording 6-wins with a junior varsity schedule.
In 2018 Southside will play a hybrid Varsity-JV schedule with marquee match-ups against Central Catholic (Morgan City,) Opelousas Catholic and Gueydan. While the games won’t count for or against their varsity counterparts, the games should play a good measuring stick for a team preparing for their first full-varsity season in 2019.
Without seniors, second year head coach Josh Fontenot enjoys the luxury of returning the majority of his entire team. Players say last season there was very little respect for the Sharks, something they hope to change this fall.
