How it Happened: In Jeptha Wall’s first season as head coach at Crowley, the Gents rallied into the a state quarterfinal match-up with Jennings that CHS lost 14-0.
Crowley went 1-4 in one-score games in 2017, it was a clear Achilles heel for the Gents. Crowley’s four regular season losses came by a total of 14 points, or 3.5 points-per-game. In turn their six regular season wins came by a 32-point average. Experience often pays a big role in winning close games, something Crowley won’t have a of in 2018. The Gents have a new quarterback, Marquis Garrett, but return a comfortable seven starters on offense. However only two return on defense, a unit that held opponents to seven or fewer points three times last season.
