(KATC) — Monday marks the official beginning of track & field season for Acadiana athletes. It will be the final high school track season for Westgate senior Caitlin Booker.
Booker is a member of Louisiana’s all-state cross country team, and her 4.0 GPA has placed her on the academic all-state team as well.
A captain on coach Philip Guidry’s track team, Booker’s high grades consistently rank her as Westgate’s top student athlete across the board.
Booker says she plans to attend LSU next fall to major in Bio Engineering and hopes to become an anesthesiologist.
“If you’re going to compete with me, I feel like we all have to do what we have to do to be the best we can be,” Booker says. “And if you’re not being the best at what you’re doing, then why are you out here?”
