STM loses in shootout to University Lab 55-46

NEW ORLEANS — STM hung close throughout, but ultimately saw its state title dreams dashed in a 55-46 loss to University Lab in the Division II state title game on Friday.

The high scoring game broke a number of championship game records for most combined first downs, total yards, total plays, penalties. The Cougar’s Grant Arceneaux caught 14 passes setting a championship record as well.

STM’s Caleb Holstein threw for 410 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions. His final interception came in the final minutes as STM tried cutting the lead back to one score.

The Cubs running back Mike Hollins ran for 240 yards, and scored five total touchdowns in the game. He was named the MVP.
