LAFAYETTE (KATC) — Most first year group of five football coaches don’t want to see a top-25 SEC team on their schedule. Most don’t want to face two of those schools in one year. And what group of five school really wants a date with Alabama? Billy Napier does.

For the Cajuns’ first-year head coach, Saturday’s game in Tuscaloosa isn’t a trial-by-fire, it’s a chance to make his mentor proud. Napier is a part of the Nick Saban coaching tree and a date with number one, the school’s first date with the top team, is an honor.

“It’s a humbling experience,” he said Monday. “You have a chance to play then umber one team in the country, and coach against, who I think is the best who ever done it. I think it’ll be a great experience for our staff, our players and for me as a first year head coach.”
