Rayne Wolves
2017 Record: 10-3
How it Happened: As the 11 seed in 4A, Rayne advanced to their first semifinal since 1975. The Wolves fell to Lakeshore 33-0 in Semis.
Rayne has some large shoes to fill in their backfield, as running backs Trent Winbush and Darien Harmon combined for over 4,200 yards during their time with the Wolves. But coming off their best finish in 4 decades, RHS still has a lot to be excited for entering 2018. The Wolves return 11 starters, including 6 on offense. Returning quarterback Darian Richard will be switching to running back to allow him to showcase his athleticism. Sophomore Colin Lacombe will take over at Quarterback.
The strength of the Wolves will be their veteran leadership, as they have 22 seniors on the roster. The weakness will be depth, as Rayne is one of the smallest teams in 4A. Head Coach Curt Ware (13th year at Welsh) says the Wolves first main goal is to be undefeated in non-district, before they enter one of the toughest districts, 4-4A.
