YOUNGSVILLE, La. (July 2, 2018)- Seven Acadiana Cane Cutters have been selected to participate in this year’s Texas Collegiate League All-Star Game.
Among those All-Stars are Lamar University’s Rhett McCall and Cole Secrest. McCall continues to lead the league with a .425 batting average and Secrest leads the Cane Cutters with 17 RBIs.
Joining them will be a pair of Aggies, as Texas A&M’s Chandler Morris and Cole Taylor will also be heading to the All-Star Game. Morris has two home runs and seven RBIs, and has had 13 hits in 42 at-bats with the Cane Cutters. Taylor has scored 11 runs on 17 hits this summer and has nine RBIs.
Rounding out the group are a pair of Ragin’ Cajun pitchers and a LSU Tiger. Hayden Erbe (ULL), Jacob Norman (ULL), and Matthew Beck (LSU) were the three Cane Cutters pitchers chosen to participate in the game.
Erbe is tied for first in the league with 34 strikeouts while Norman has thrown 11 strikeouts in the 10.2 innings he has pitched for the Cane Cutters. Beck holds a 2.25 ERA over 12 innings and has only allowed four runs in the four games he has thrown this season.
The TCL All-Star Game will be hosted on Wednesday, July 4th at Riverside Stadium in Victoria, Texas. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. and will be preceded by the Home Run Derby at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the Victoria Generals’ YouTube channel.
